    Advanced Master-Keying for Locksmiths

An advanced locksmith-focused course on complex master-key system structure, system expansion, hierarchy design, and professional design judgement.

This course is intended for locksmiths and security professionals who already understand basic lock principles, keying terminology, and conventional master-key system structure. It will focus on the design decisions involved in making better use of a system while maintaining integrity, control, and future expansion options.

    Advanced system structure

Explore more complex hierarchy decisions, including non-symmetrical systems, split use of positions, selective access, and structures that do not fit simple textbook examples.

    Expansion and flexibility

Consider how design choices affect future growth, available combinations, expansion pathways, system lifespan, and the ability to adapt to changing client requirements.

    Design methods and judgement

Topics may include rotated constants, controlled use of progression positions, avoiding unnecessary compromise, and recognising when a requested design introduces risk.

Note: this course is intended for locksmiths and others with existing master-keying knowledge. It is not intended as an introductory course for building managers or non-locksmith learners.
